I’m Felix Andrews, a building industry outsider in Canberra. I’m running hands-on experiments on low-carbon insulation materials in a shed behind my house, and I write up what I find here, including the parts that don’t work.
For a while I did energy and comfort consulting: modelling and optimising house designs, assessing existing homes, and building small experimental structures. That work shows up in the older posts. These days I’m more interested in better materials.
My background is in software, data visualisation, scientific modelling, and teaching. Measure it, chart it, and don’t trust a model you haven’t checked against reality.
